The art of water

Watercolor art of 18th and 19th century Europe. Paintings by Joseph Mallord Turner, John Sell Cotman and John Constable.
Moving more towards the 20th century with German painter, Gerard Richter.
I'm not one to put words to art, nor do I try... but gahhh they are all so beautiful! Filled with either muted, soothing colors or vibrant and dramatic ones each artist fills each paper or canvas with such intense strokes. I love it!

Update

Well those three days of diet lost me 5 lbs! Not that big of a deal but it's definitely a start. Plus I have to admit, I've been spoiling myself with lots of fro-yo. I can't get enough of Pinkberry! It's soooo gooood. Other than that, not very much has been going on... there have been lots of rainy days over here, everyone is kind of moving at a glacial pace. On a happier note, it's the weekend(!) and I am very excited for that. Weekends mean farmers markets <3 <3 <3 My friend discovered, and so generously shared with me, something BETTER than ice cream at a farmers market. I know, I sound crazy, but I'm not lying when I say this. If the weather calms down tomorrow I will be stopping by the Grove on our way to the beach to show you all exactly what I'm talking about. Who am I kidding? Even if we don't go to the beach, I'm still gettin' me some of this good stuff. I've been deprived for the last 6 days.

Case of the Mondays

A lazy Sunday followed by a lazy Monday, the perfect start to a relaxing week. You gotta love summer. I feel a little spoiled taking this day for myself and doing absolutely nothing with it so I was very pleased when my friend invited me on her sailboat today for a sunset cruise. It had been about a year since my last sailboat excursion and I was more than excited to go. We made a pit stop at Whole Foods and got all of our sailboating essentials for a delicious dinner on the water. I reluctantly brought my camera aboard and snapped a few shots of the end of our day.

For the pops

Happy fathers day! It's been quite a lazy Sunday here in Miami. Not much has been goin' on and I love it! My family has spent the day lounging around the house which was followed by a late lunch in the Grove at a great burger joint (I think I've mentioned it before) called Lokal. I meant to take pictures of the restaurant and, of course, the burgers but I was so hungry that when our food came out, I completely forgot! I managed to snap a few shots at the end of our meal,  I guess they'll have to do. Hope you're all enjoying the rest of this beautiful Sunday.
                                the pops.
                                the bro.
I drank mine pretty quickly. So good!

Check this out!

I, in no way take any credit for this incredibly cute idea I discovered on Pinterest. Mine turned out a bit different, considering the slight inaccuracy of a few states (my apologies!), the addition of Alaska and Hawaii, and the colors/size. It was quite enjoyable to make and I'm so excited to start pinning once I get back from my trip to the north east. You should definitely try it out, it adds to your decor, gives you a place to put some reminders, and allows you to mark where you've been in the world. I'm thinking of making three more for Australia, Europe, and Central America. Heres a pic of the original...and then mine. Now that I compare the two mine doesn't look so hot but I still like it :)

Day 3!

It's finally over! Three days of nothing but protein and green veggies (not even carrots!) and I'm finished. This feels good. Yup, I sound like a wuss but three days is a long time if you think about it. I've come to realize just how many carbs we eat on a daily basis including certain seasonings! Cray-zay. I decided to change my plan though, I am no longer doing a 3 week "diet". I figured a 9 week "health program" would be a lot more effective so I'm going with the P90x nutritional plan. Tomorrow begins Phase 1 which still allows me to maintain my low carb diet. Tomorrow is also my first Yoga(-)lates class, we'll see how that goes based on how sore I am from today. 3 hours at the gym today! 3!!! I've never done something for 3 hours straight, not even school.. well school was 7 and 1/2 hours but still, each individual class was only 1 hour. Nevertheless, I will be crying like a baby tomorrow but I guess that is the sacrifice I am willing to make if I want my dream body. Gotta stay motivated and positive!

Day 2

Alright so yesterday wasn't too bad, because I kept myself busy, but today was freaking torture. I thought it was a good idea to stay at home and work on a mini project for my room and basically I've just been munching all day. Not on bad stuff though only celery, lettuce, green beans, and the occasional piece of protein but because I've been home all I've been noticing are the goodies I can't eat. The watermelon in my fridge has become like a dessert to me so don't even get me started on the Ben & Jerry's ice cream in the freezer. I'm officially the world's WORST and least motivated dieter. The good thing is today is just about over which means one more day and then I get to relax. Well, kinda, I'm still going to be on a very strict low-carb diet but at least I'll be able to eat carrots. Woohoo! *Think thin thoughts*

3 days and a little more

For those of you who are in no way interested in my life, please refrain from reading this post. It's more of a personal online pep-talk than anything, but since nothing is personal once you've posted it online you can do with it what you will.
This morning marked the first day of my 3 day no-carb diet followed by a week of low to no carbs and two more weeks of low carb. Talk about exciting. Okay, I'm a very sarcastic person but truth be told I actually am excited. All over the web I've been seeing girls going from 200+ lbs to under 130 lbs and I'm very jealous... not of their weight loss but of their determination and dedication. Because, let's be honest, it's hard as sh*t to lose weight, especially if you're a girl AND especially if you live with BOYS! Most of my friends are guys and guys eat like pigs then hate on fat girls...then judge you if you order a salad. I'm terribly sorry that fries don't just disappear out of my body like they do yours, so the salad is necessary unless you want me to look like that girl you so harshly analyzed.
The point being, if all of these women (both young and old) can accomplish their goals than I think it's about time I start towards mine. So yay for me surviving my first day! Tomorrow morning there will be a P90x dvd with my name on it and two egg whites to reward me once I have finished. I can't wait to reach my perfect bod! My set date for a 10 lb loss? I have until July 2nd. Once I've reached that goal, it's on to the next 10. Wish me luck!
