A fun workout
It's always difficult to find motivation to exercise, especially when exercising to some people means weights, machines, and a testosterone filled instructor screaming "you better not be thinking about donuts" the entire time you work out. For some, all of the things I just mentioned is enjoyable... but for a kid like me who only wants to have fun that does not sound ideal.
Because going to a gym doesn't usually work out for me (unless it's step class) I've been finding more enjoyable alternatives. More frequently than not I've been biking to the beach with friends, rollerblading around the suburbs, and kayaking through nature filled mangroves to the beautiful bay.
Not only am I noticing a physical change but I'm also noticing a mental one. I know I know, endorphins make you happy and happy people just don't shoot their husbands... but this "change" isn't just from those endorphins, I believe it's the adventure and beauty of truly being outside.
Just last Sunday my kayak was side swiped by a basic stingray and, okay, I kind of freaked out at first because I thought it was a crocodile but once I saw what it was I was just filled with a feeling I can't even describe and I was simply in heaven! Surrounded by nature on my own AND getting buff arms from paddling? C'mon... that sounds like the perfect kind of exercise to me!
So for people like me who hate not being able to think about donuts while exercising for fear of being reprimanded I strongly recommend trying at least one of those listed above :) :) :)
